Friday, September 14th, 2012An Affair of the Heart, the documentary featuring the special relationship rocker Rick Springfield has with his most ardent fans heads back on the Film Festival circuit in late September with stops in Milwaukee, Boston, Minneapolis and Bend, OR. The most exciting news is the film will have an exclusive theatrical release in New York City the week of October 10-16 to coincide with the release of Springfield’s newest album “Songs for the End of the World” which hits retail outlets and online music sites, such as iTunes on October 9th. Click here for more info about the new album.
In preparation for this increased exposure, Killerwebs Design cranked out a new look to the An Affair of the Heart website in less than 24 hours. Yellow Rick Road Productions requested a simplified design with improved user interface. The front end of the site features a simple static site to make it easy for the every day user to find information about the film. Killerwebs Design also designed the “fan section” of the site which is accessible when one clicks on the Follow the Yellow Rick Road road sign. This section is a more complex database driven website featuring subscriber management, e-newsletter capabilities and frequently updated news exclusive to paying subscribers.

Killerwebs Design Launches New Logo
Thursday, April 5th, 2012My logo has never felt right. It never clicked with me and with as often as I a create things for clients, you’d think I’d be inspired. But I wasn’t. To be honest, I have never liked my logo…. that is, until now. I decided it was time to switch things up even though I had updated my logo just last year. I decided that what I had was too blah and it didn’t really say anything about me and what it is that I do. The truth of the matter is that I wear many hats – not only professionally but personally. On a personal level, I am a mom, a widow, a caregiver, a nurse and cook. On a professional level, I not only design websites but graphics, logos and communications materials, I also do some Human Resources, marketing, social media marketing and now, photography. How could one logo tell that story?
40th Birthday Invitation
Sunday, May 31st, 2009
Having already done logos for Millwood, the CEO of Millwood came to SDG for help in planning his wife’s 40th birthday party. What a fun project! The initial project was to be a slideshow consisting or pictures of his wife from her birth to present day. In addition, he wanted all of his precious family photos digitally archived because many of them had started to deteriorate. To preserve them for his children was very important to him. In the midst of working on this slideshow, he asked SDG to step in and come up with some concepts for the party invitation since the ideas that he had been given from another source were not working for him.
Killerwebs loves these projects because they’re personal. We can dive in and have fun and imagine how would we like these types of things if these were for us! Of course, the input from the client is key. This particular project was fun because he wanted to make this milestone for his wife a celebration. His wife was really into dancing as a teenager and even to this day the client often spies his wife dancing through out their home or breaking out into cheerleader routines in their kitchen. When coming up with the idea for this invitation, it occurred to us that we should consider the fact that the slideshow was going to be a big part of this party. It was in essence, a movie about his wife’s life! So, how are movies promoted? With movie posters, of course! And being a child of the 1980s, what big dance movies where there – Flashdance, Fame and Footloose, right? So the inspiration for the “forty” logo came from the movie Fame. The content of the invitation evolved from there. The invitation was a huge hit according to our client and the feedback he received from his partygoers were extremely enthusiastic.
Timbergate Logo
Sunday, May 31st, 2009
About the same time that Millwood commissioned SDG to create the Farm Gate logo, they asked for logo concepts for another property – Timbergate. The logos progressed quickly with Timbergate because the client was able to quickly identify the branding they wanted their new property to have. The explained to us the type of atmosphere their new property would have and how they wanted the logo make people feel when they saw it – rustic, homey and inviting.
The logo creation process usually begins with a brain storming session with the client. To get sense of the client’s style and likes and dislikes, it is common for us to ask for samples of logos that they find attractive. Killerwebs will design several concepts and present them to the client. From there feedback will help mold the final logo. This process usually takes about 3-4 weeks depending upon the quantity of feedback and how quickly the client can respond to our questions. Killerwebs and SDG pride themselves on responding quickly to the client’s feedback. We never like to keep the client waiting on us!
