Rant - Siding with Mitt

Posted on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 3:24 pm

It’s totally wrong if you disparage gays…you can’t say anything derrogative about blacks and if you’re Muslim, you’re completely off limits. It’s only fair, right? It’s not nice to say nasty things about these people and I agree. Our existence here is equal. We all have the right to be who we want, do what we want and say what we want so long as it’s legal and stuff. We can be who we want to be. That encompasses what we as Americans believe to be our inalienable rights as human beings. So, why is it ok to go after Mitt Romney for being a Mormon? These attacks are lame. They’re offensive and quite frankly, they’re ignorant. Why doesn’t Harry Reid come out and support Mitt as a fellow Mormon? He doesn’t have to agree with Mitt’s stands on issues but he can at least be voice of the opposition, put his foot down and say enough is enough. But he stays silent which makes me dislike him all the more. And Huckabee…I want to like him. He sounds conservative enough but he is a former Baptist minister (which makes no difference to me) but that alone aligns him with a group of people that have got to be some of the most hateful people on the planet. These are the same folks who picket our church conferences, call us sinners, yell in our faces about not being Christian and wear versions of our under garments on the outside of their clothing as if we should be shamed by it. Is it ok for us to chastize Jews for wearing yamikas? For Muslims to wear head scarves and pray in a certain direction? Call me crazy but I don’t recall the Jesus we read about in the Bible having done any of these things. These people who claim to hold the moral majority and say as to who is a Christian are some of the least Christ-like people I have seen. Give me an athiest or agnostic. I know a few. Even though they may not hold my faith in God, they don’t show utter hatred for my existence. If these are the types of people that the GOP want to align themselves with then, kiss my vote goodbye. Huckabee may as well be admitting he thinks like them by the silence that he gives when asked questions about Mormons. Whatever, Huck. That’s not good enough. If you’re a Christ follower, then I’d expect you to come unto Him and do as He did. You’re not doing that. Mitt Romney doesn’t need to explain our faith. What’s it got to do with being president anyway? Should we not judge a man and candidate by his character and how he lives his life? Show me where Romney has done anything morally wrong, criminal or insane (other than try to run for President)! If you’re reading this and think I’m a nut for being Mormon, well, fine. That’s your opinion. It’s based on ignorance and lack of understanding but it’s an opinion all the same and you’re entitled to it. If you want to know doctrine, then ask. Read. Research. It’s all out there and hardly a secret. Geez…this stuff pisses me off - always has.

I’ve changed my mind…

Back to dark…

Back on white

The black was looking a bit gloomy… so I thought I’d brighten things up around here and go back to an old style. I’m looking to update the look/feel to reflect the holidays but I’m a little busy catching up with things. Perhaps soon….
