Kris' Thoughts & Stuff

About our family

The Fluck family dates back beyond the 1700's. Johannes Fluck immigrated to the United States from Germany and started a church in Pennsylvania. In fact, so many Flucks infiltrated Pennsylvania, it should have been called Flucksylvania or Flucksburg or FluckinUSA...but people being who they are, don't quite get the irony in the name and would be too afraid to pronounce it, they went with the tamer name of Pennsylvania and came up with some lame story about a guy named William Penn. Whatever...

The real history of the Fluck family was made in October 1995 when one boy met one girl online. It was love at first byte when KountryKris met KountryMike. The nights were long and the chat was deep - filled with sound wavs and virtual hugs. Their romance was literally an online soap opera.

In February 1996, they met in person for the first time and spent a whirlwind 9 days touring California. It was Mike's first time on an airplane. They visited San Francisco, Monterrey Bay, Los Angeles, Disneyland, Universal Studios and nearly every beach in between.

In June 1996, Kris and Mike spent the week in Nashville, TN where they participated in Fan Fair. They met numerous country music stars and even were part of the historic Garth Brooks 23 hour autograph marathon session where they waited in line for 14 hours to meet the man himself!

In September 1996, Kris moved to Tennessee with Mike hot on her heels. A chance interview at Opryland found Mike returning with his belongings 2 weeks later.

On Christmas Eve 1996, Mike proposed to Kris. Kris was expecting a proposal but after a morning of opening gifts like a box a midol, she was beginning to wonder what she had gotten herself into. The proposal didn't come and like any seemingly-jilted girl would do, Kris pouted. She pouted A LOT. Mike started to feel pretty bad and had to speed up his plan of creating the perfect mood. Mike had compiled all the perfect songs on a mixed tape and when Rhett Akins' "She Said Yes" came on he bolted from the room. Kris pretty much knew what was coming next but let Mike embarrass himself anyway. He returned to the room shaking and on half bended knee, he choked out his proposal. They were poor. They were young. The diamond was small but it came from deep down in his heart. This boy loved this girl.

In September 1997, they were married on the porch of a bed and breakfast inn deep in the countryside of McMinnville, TN. Mike, in full tux-n-tails rode in on a John Deer tractor and their dog, Jesse served as "best dog". It was as redneck as a girl from California could make it - just minus the moonshine. The wedding was a blast.

The Flucks spent the next 3 years making their home in LaVergne, TN. There they gathered their fur-babies together - 2 dogs, Jesse & Rachel and a cat named Garth (yup, Garth..named after you know who).

In 2000, they moved their brood to Utah and settled in the south end of the Salt Lake Valley. In August 2002, their family was complete when little Michaela Kristine made her appearance to the world. They don't get any more perfect than her.

The next 8 years were spent workin', livin' and flyin'. The family loved taking their trips to Disneyland and went as often as their free flight benefits and Disneyland season passes would allow.

Sadly, in January 2008, Mike earned his wings. He was called home to Heavenly Father where his dearly departed mother, Phyllis was waiting for him with open arms. Mike lives on in the heart of his little girl. One look in her eyes and her mommy sees her daddy looking back at her as if to say, "I love you, hun."

The family perseveres. The next chapters are being written...stay tuned...
