Killerwebs Designs Fan Award for Actor, Dominic Zamprogna

It’s a little bit self-indulgent but what the hay! This fun little project was a collaboration of sorts between me and the fun gals in Lanteland (a fan forum for actors Dominic Zamprogna and Julie Marie Berman of General Hospital). The Emmy nominations came out this week and although Julie did get one (yay!), Dominic did not (boo!). This is mostly because Dominic didn’t join the show until last June and there wasn’t much to go on in regards to material to nominate (that’s a valid argument I suppose but kinda lame). Anyway! He could very well be up for something next year because his juiciest stuff is happening NOW. So, in light of not getting recognition this year, we decided it would be fun to put a little something together and have someone give it to him at the fan event in Chicago on May 15, 2010.
Keep in mind that none of us have met. We hail from all over the country – from Tennessee to Illinois to Utah to Wisconsin to California – all over. So coming together was a feat in and of itself but in a matter of about a day and half we collaborated and created the following poster:
The lucky gal who got to give the poster to Dominic is still floating on cloud nine because he paid special attention to her when she presented the “award” to him. I admit that I am kinda jealous that I couldn’t see his reaction myself but it is exciting to know that some of my work is out there. FUN TIMES!

Having already done logos for Millwood, the CEO of Millwood came to SDG for help in planning his wife’s 40th birthday party. What a fun project! The initial project was to be a slideshow consisting or pictures of his wife from her birth to present day. In addition, he wanted all of his precious family photos digitally archived because many of them had started to deteriorate. To preserve them for his children was very important to him. In the midst of working on this slideshow, he asked SDG to step in and come up with some concepts for the party invitation since the ideas that he had been given from another source were not working for him.
Killerwebs loves these projects because they’re personal. We can dive in and have fun and imagine how would we like these types of things if these were for us! Of course, the input from the client is key. This particular project was fun because he wanted to make this milestone for his wife a celebration. His wife was really into dancing as a teenager and even to this day the client often spies his wife dancing through out their home or breaking out into cheerleader routines in their kitchen. When coming up with the idea for this invitation, it occurred to us that we should consider the fact that the slideshow was going to be a big part of this party. It was in essence, a movie about his wife’s life! So, how are movies promoted? With movie posters, of course! And being a child of the 1980s, what big dance movies where there – Flashdance, Fame and Footloose, right? So the inspiration for the “forty” logo came from the movie Fame. The content of the invitation evolved from there. The invitation was a huge hit according to our client and the feedback he received from his partygoers were extremely enthusiastic.
Timbergate Logo

About the same time that Millwood commissioned SDG to create the Farm Gate logo, they asked for logo concepts for another property – Timbergate. The logos progressed quickly with Timbergate because the client was able to quickly identify the branding they wanted their new property to have. The explained to us the type of atmosphere their new property would have and how they wanted the logo make people feel when they saw it – rustic, homey and inviting.
The logo creation process usually begins with a brain storming session with the client. To get sense of the client’s style and likes and dislikes, it is common for us to ask for samples of logos that they find attractive. Killerwebs will design several concepts and present them to the client. From there feedback will help mold the final logo. This process usually takes about 3-4 weeks depending upon the quantity of feedback and how quickly the client can respond to our questions. Killerwebs and SDG pride themselves on responding quickly to the client’s feedback. We never like to keep the client waiting on us!

Big D is one of the leading construction companies in Utah. They came to The Service Dimensions Group when they needed to create an employee benefits guide. With the expertise of SDG, the guide quickly took shape. SDG’s experience with human resources, benefits management and the health care industry, they were able to quickly write the content for the guide while Killerwebs was able to present it professionally with a custom designed benefits guide which was easy to read and tailored to their business.
Turn around time for a project such as this is about 4 weeks.
